Vote to Re-Elect Dr. Zoe Unno For PVLD Board of Trustees – A Trusted and Experienced Library Leader

Librarian
I am a Masters degreed librarian with experience in library leadership and management at local and national levels where my primary objective is that individuals have their needs met through the services and resources of the library. This is achieved by the dedicated professionals who work with patrons. I was a FILL (From Interns to Library Leaders) intern at PVLD and witnessed the commitment of the library workers.

Experienced
I have broad experience with library budgets, staff management, strategic planning and execution. I have served as a library leader in a range of institutions and library committees; as well as a national leader and speaker on library topics. Advocate
As an engaged community member and trustee, I advocate for PVLD and all libraries that need support from elected officials. (Photo: Dr. Unno uses one of the PVLD State Parks Passes)

Dedicated
I am driven to find the best solutions for the Palos Verdes community. I am a graduate of the inaugural Citizens’ Academy in Palos Verdes Estates where I learned how I could contribute my skillsets to our local community. I have served on the local advisory committee for traffic safety. Throughout Los Angeles County I have organized and/or participated in beach and nature preserve clean up, worked on Habitat for Humanity home sites, serve on the Judges Advisory Committee for California Science and Engineering Fair, and as a Judge for International Science and Engineering Fair.

Educator
In addition to my Masters in Library and Information Science, I earned a BS and PhD in Biology, which I have used to conduct research and teach during my career. I have worked with diverse learners across science, environmental science and health care disciplines in California community colleges and state colleges and universities

Responsible
I am committed to ensuring that our libraries make good use of your hard-earned taxpayer dollars. In 2021 I earned the SDLF Certificate in Special District Governance which signifies that I have completed the Special District Leadership Academy and attained knowledge that is core to Special District governance in California.
